Yoimiya / Yomiya [The Eve of a Festival]

Yoimiya is an old local Tsugaru Festival in this area. It’s really tasteful. Yomiya usually holds at shrines or temples. Hirosaki has many shrines or temples so it holds all summer long around in the city. There are many kinds of stalls open on the street and people goes there wearing Yukata. Yomiya brings us the real feeling of summer.

Before Yomiya, the firework goes up. It’s a signal of Yomiya holds. When people heard this sounds, change into Yukata. People go Yomiya with friends, family, boyfriend or girlfriend. First, they play a visit to a shrine, after that they enjoy such as scooping goldfish, lottery or buying toy sparklers, cotton candies, fresh strawberry lollipops or chocolate covered bananas at the stalls.
